City of Fairfield Receives New Proposal for 36-Feet Apartment Building

The Great Jones Multi-Family Development
The City of Fairfield has received a new proposal for a three story, 36-feet apartment building to be located on Great Jones Street in Downtown Fairfield between Kentucky and Empire Street. The project would replace the existing vacant single-family residence and parking lot existing on the site. The 45,234 square feet building will house 28 total apartment units, 26 of which will be two-bedroom, two-bathroom, while the remaining two will be three-bedroom, two-bathroom. A garage will provide 28 parking spaces, with 12 additional spaces being provided through on-street parking.

The project is part of the Heart of Fairfield Specific Plan, which aims to revitalize Downtown Fairfield, the West Texas Street corridor, and surrounding areas by 2040 into a mixed-use, walkable, residential and commercial district. The project is located on a catalytic site, which are key parts in the Heart of Fairfield Specific Plan area.

On 12 June 2019, the City of Fairfield's Planning Commission adopted Resolution 2019-6, which approved the development review of the project.
